Everybody knows that masonry does not last forever. Time can eventually wear it out, causing it to crumble and deteriorate. Sometimes you need to undergo major repairs just to make it look better; but other times, even just a bit of simple patching can restore the beauty and the durability of your bricks.

Nonetheless, when you have cracked or broken masonry, it is important that you take steps to restore it somehow. Although it may not look really bad, moisture may seep in, affecting the overall structure of the masonry. Also, masonry deteriorate seems to have a domino effect --- when it begins, you can expect it to spread at a fast rate. If you don’t do anything about it, the situation can worsen to the point that you may have to replace or remove large sections of masonry, and this is going to cost you a lot of money.

So, it is always best to arrest the problem while it has only just begun and no considerable damage is visible; in which case, basic patching works can be very effective in preventing the masonry to crumble.

However, if you are not able to do something about the problem and it worsens, then you may have to apply more extensive restoration of the masonry. Sometimes, you may have to completely remove a section of the masonry and replace it. For sure, this is going to be expensive, but then this measure is necessary to save your masonry from further deterioration.
