Sometimes it does not take a lot of money to update the look and feel of a kitchen. In fact, there are many cheap updates that can go a long way. If you consider all of them you should find a few that suit you well. Below are five cheap kitchen updates that can take your space from drab to luxurious in no time at all.
1. Paint. As you may know from other rooms in your home, a bit of paint on the wall can go a long way. If you don’t like your current paint color and/or it does not match the rest of your kitchen, this is an easy change that will not cost you a lot of money. For the cost of a gallon of paint and some basic supplies you can quickly change the color of your kitchen. Does it get any easier and cheaper than that?
2. Backsplash. What do you currently have on the wall between your countertop and cabinets? If you have an old backsplash or none at all you may want to consider making a change. This is a job that sounds like it would cost a lot of money, but in the long run you will find that this is not the case. While the size of your kitchen has a lot to say about how much this project will cost, there are many types of tile that will not set you back an arm and a leg.
3. Accessories. If your kitchen feels bare there is a good chance that some accessories here and there can change this for the better. Accessories can be anything from place mats to pictures on the wall and anything in between.
4. Cabinet hardware. What type of handles and knobs do you currently have on the cabinets in your kitchen? What about the hinges? With a screw driver and some new hardware you can update the look of your cabinets, as well as your kitchen as a whole.
5. Window treatments. This is one detail that is overlooked time and time again. If you have a window or door in your kitchen you need to consider the treatments that you have in place. Would blinds look best? How about curtains? It is up to you to decide what type of treatments are best for your kitchen.
While there are many ways to upgrade your kitchen, some of them are entirely too expensive. Instead of getting caught up in a long term, high cost project, consider the above changes that can be done on the cheap.
