When painting your home you may want to think outside the box. This holds true with both interior and exterior projects. Although it is safe to do the same old thing, time after time, this is far from exciting. If you want your home to be different than the rest, you should get creative during the painting process. This does not mean that you have to go overboard. Everybody is creative in their own ways, and you should let this show through when you decide on your next painting project.
Here are five ways to get creative when painting your home:
1. Choose bold colors if you can make them work. Some homeowners have the décor that allows them to choose colors that are not exactly neutral. If you can pull off bright red walls, and this is something you will enjoy now and for the long haul, you should think about moving in this direction. There is nothing wrong with choosing bold colors – it is something that can really payoff.
2. Be different on the exterior, but do not go crazy. There is nothing wrong with making the outside of your home unique. One of the best ways of doing this is by changing the paint color. Just remember that even though you are trying to be different, you need to consider the fact that the outside of your home is what everybody is going to see.
3. What about patterns? Who said that you have to paint your interior walls one solid color? You can get as creative as you want by using patterns, painting images, and anything else that you may enjoy. It can be difficult to buck the trend and do something like this, but in the long run it may be something that you enjoy. Although you do not want to make mistakes, keep in mind that it is just paint – it can always be fixed.
4. Take cues from ideas that you have seen over the years. Is there a particular color scheme that you have seen that really suits you and your home well? There is nothing wrong with getting inspiration from outside sources. Do not be afraid to follow your heart and choose colors that may not be what most homeowners consider the norm.
5. Sometimes the best way of being creative is to tie in your paint color with the rest of the room. This may not sound too creative, but in the end you will find that it actually works out the best. In many cases, toning things back a bit is the best way to be creative.
