1. Online. No matter what type of flooring you are looking for the internet is a great place to start. When you decide to shop online you will probably find that you are well on your way to saving money. This is where you should start your search. Many buyers never get past this because they find what they are looking for.

2. Discount stores. There are man stores in cities all over the country that sell discounted flooring. This includes everything from carpet to tile and options in between. When you decide to shop at one of these stores you may not have the biggest selection. But in the end you will definitely find yourself saving money.

3. Big box stores. Just because a hardware store is well known does not mean that their prices are outrageous. Check out a few of these stores and see if any of the flooring you are interested in is on sale. You may be surprised at just how low the prices are on some of the flooring.

4. Ask your builder for leftovers. Believe it or not, many builders have leftover flooring that they can use in your home for a lower than average price. If you never ask about this you are probably never going to be able to take advantage. Look around and see if you have any connections to builders or contractors who may be able to save you money on flooring.

5. Specialty stores. There are stores that specialize in flooring and nothing else. Even though you may believe that they are the most expensive, since they buy in bulk this is not always the case. Not only can you save on the cost of materials, but these stores may even be able to install your new flooring at a lower price than the competition.

Those in the market for cheap flooring should consider the five options detailed above.
