What type of Home Buyer are you?

Written by: Chris Bibey

There are many different types of home buyers. You may think that you are the same as everybody else, but will find out soon enough that this is not true. Before we go any further, keep in mind that you are who you are. You will shop for your home based on your wants, needs, and personality – and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, knowing what type of home buyer you are can go a long way in bettering your chance of getting the best deal.

Listed below are four types of home buyers. There is a good chance that you fit into one of these groups:

1. Aggressive buyers who are ready to make a purchase right now. Are you fed up with looking around and ready to take the bull by the horns and make a deal? Some home buyers are really aggressive, and will do whatever they can to get the home of their dreams. While this may not be your personality, there are many buyers who fit this mold.

2. Those that are just looking. These people are interested in buying a home at some point, but are not sure if right now is the best time for them. Does this sound like you? Buyers in this group usually spend a lot of time at open houses, but are not quite sure that moving forward is the best thing to do.

3. Those that will buy, but only if the deal is exactly right. There are many consumers who will only make a purchase when they find the perfect home – even if it takes many years. There is nothing wrong with being this type of buyer as long as you know that it may extend the process for quite some time. You never know when or if you will find exactly what you are looking for.

4. Somebody who will buy anything. Believe it or not, there are home buyers who do not care nearly as much as you would think. They go out, find a few homes, compare the pros and cons, and buy something. This way of thinking may not make sense to you, but it is something that many people share.

Do you fit into one of the four groups above? It is important to know where you stand and how you will act when buying a home. This way you can make all the right moves along the way.
