Making Tutoring Fun and More Interesting

A lot of parents who are tutoring their kids at home sometimes find it difficult to come up with more creative ways to make learning more fun and exciting. Some are finding it hard to get their child’s full attention while others are having a hard time putting their words together when explaining certain points. This can be very frustrating for both child and parent as teaching is a very difficult job especially when it involves subjects wherein the child happens to be weak at.

One of the best approaches in order to make tutoring more fun is by using models that interest a child. For instance, when studying math, candies make good models to explain a process. When studying fractions, it is best to make use of things that you know your child will look at like a cake, chocolate bar or even a toy that may seem applicable to use. Stimulate your child’s mind by using things that interest him or her as examples. Sometimes, depending on your child’s learning style, it helps to incorporate play or games with learning. Flashcards can also be used as tools to test memory skills. The idea is to become creative and make learning as something to look forward to.

Tutoring your child can be very challenging. However, it should be you who know best what your child’s learning style is. To maximize your child’s potential; make it a point to grant a reward after a job well done. It will serve as a good motivation.
