Most businesses make use of email broadcast in order to maintain communication with their clients and prospects. However, there are a few things that business owners need to know to ensure that their emails get past spam filters.
The most essential factor that can determine whether your email will be opened and read is the subject line. Therefore it is of utmost importance to make it enticing so that the people who will receive your email will open and read it. Creativity is important.
Do not attempt to use words that are spam-suspicious in your subject line. Such words are “opportunity”, “free” and “guarantee”. There are spam filters that will automatically block your email when such words are detected in your email’s subject line.
Do not capitalize all the words in your subject line or even in the body of your email. This is considered unprofessional, amateur and somewhat rude. Most spam filters will most likely block such emails.
Your business email address should be used only for your professional dealings. Do not use it to forward chain messages.
It is not a good idea to send attachments that come in big files. There are email provider filters that might remove your attachment or worse, the whole email. The best thing to do is to create HTML page for downloading of the attached file. After that, have a link in your email that will direct your recipient to that HTML page.
Do not forward unsolicited email messages. Instead, build a list that gave you the permission to contact them.
Be aware of how frequent you send emails. Your recipients might stop reading your emails or mark them as spam if you send email too frequently.
