Set Goals to better yourself

How do you measure your self improvement progress? This is a question that can be difficult to answer. One of the best things you can do is set goals. While you may be doing this in your head, writing them down can really put you on the right path. When your goals are in front of you, nothing will be standing in your way.

Here are five goal setting details to keep in mind:

1. Set short term goals. With these, you will be able to keep your confidence high because you will see yourself making progress on a regular basis. Remember, short term goals are smaller than those that you will set for the long haul. Along with this, they are easier to reach.

2. Set long term goals. If you truly want to reach the pinnacle of success, you need to set long term goals that are worth chasing. Yes, these goals will take a while to reach but when you finally get there you will be able to look back and realize just how far you have come.

3. Set goals that you can reach at some point in time. There is no point in setting ridiculous goals that you have no chance of reaching. For instance, saying you want to earn $1 million by tomorrow is a goal that you probably won’t be able to reach. But if you push this out a few years, you are at least giving yourself the chance to succeed.

4. If you miss your goals, keep moving forward. The last thing you want to do is give up on your goals just because you have come up a little bit short. There are going to be times when you get off track and find yourself heading in a different direction. If you miss on a goal, consider if it is still worth chasing. If it isn’t, set new goals that are more in line with what you are currently trying to accomplish.

5. Don’t let anybody tell you that it cannot be done. When you set goals you are bound to hear how ridiculous they are – especially if you are reaching for the stars. Instead of letting this get you down, use this negativity as motivation.

For many, self improvement can be difficult to measure. To get past this, set goals for yourself based on the five details above.
